The beginning of the movie is a battle of the Empire Star Destroyer warships are pursuing the ship of Princess Leia Organa - Princess of the planet Alderaan. Princess Leia is holding the design of the most destructive weapon ever created by the Empire - the Death Star, a weapon that can destroy an entire planet in a shot. This design was sacrificed by the soldiers of the Army to bring back hope for the Galaxy. However, Leia's ship was not able to escape, and before being captured by Darth Vader, a loyal follower of the Imperial Emperor, she hides the design into a robot called R2-D2. Another R2-D2 robot, C-3PO, escapes to Tatooine's infertile planet and accidentally becomes the possession of a young man named Luke Skywalker.

When cleaning R2-D2, Luke unconsciously activates a rescue message saved by Leia in R2-D2, which is a sentinel message sent to a person named Obi-Wan Kenobi. On Obi-Wan's quest, Luke meets Ben Kenobi, an old man who lives on Tatooine. Ben Kenobi later reveals that he is Obi-Wan, one of the last surviving Jedi. He told Luke about the Divine Force, the Jedi, the peacekeepers of the old Republic. They were destroyed by the Empire with the help of a betrayed Jedi, Darth Vader. Obi-Wan also states that Luke's father was also a Jedi and was killed by Vader, who then handed Luke his father's lightsaber - a Jedi weapon for him.

While pursuing the two robots, the Empire forces have killed the entire Luke family, so he wishes to learn the Divine Force and become a Jedi. Luke and Obi-Wan later find a way to leave Tatooine in order to bring the Death Star design to Alderaan. Two people rent a ship of famous smugglers Han Solo, the Millenium Falcon to take them to Alderaan. But while the Death Star was completed and to prove its power, the Empire destroyed Alderaan. Luke and Obi-Wan, along with Han's help, break into Death Star and rescue Princess Leia. Later, during the lightsaber battle with Darth Vader, Obi-Wan sacrifices to Luke to escape. They brought the design back to the Rebels and in the ensuing battle, Luke successfully destroyed the Death Star, but Darth Vader is still alive.
