Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a series of surprises, but perhaps the greatest surprise of all is the appearance of Jedi Yoda.
Yoda helped bring light, understanding, and intelligence to Luke after Rey left Ahch-To and apparently he would continue to appear in Star Wars 9 in a larger role.

The 900-year-old Jedi Master returns in the form of ghosts to help Rey's character, Daisy Ridley, continue to develop his hidden powers, admitting Rey's maturity as a Jedi. Yoda has died in Star War 7, but he always appears as a believer, spiritual support for the Jedi alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.
